The nerdmogus aren't even a completly new entity, but instead a variation of a Crewmate. In fact, THEY ARE CREWMATES!
The only difference is that these always take things seriously, trying to correct them in the most scientifically accurate way possible, even being annoying sometimes.
But, the nerdmoguses aren't the type of "annoying" were you want to punch them in the face, but instead "annoying" of just being silly and comedic in a non-intentional way.
